My name is José Antonio Carballar. I studied Engineering, Marketing, and Business Administration, and I hold a Ph.D. in Business Administration and Marketing. I am deeply passionate about learning, experimenting, and sharing knowledge, particularly within the fields of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
My professional trajectory has been fundamentally linked to telecommunications and the Internet. In my early years, I worked on the planning and deployment of new data transmission and Internet services—a field that, at the time, was just beginning to transform the world. This stage culminated in my role as Customer Engineering Manager at a company in Switzerland, where I discovered my keen interest in marketing and business management.
Later, I had the opportunity to lead international projects for Telefónica in Central America and the Caribbean, establishing new telecommunications operators from the ground up: Telefónica would acquire licenses, which we then transformed into fully functional companies with infrastructure, employees, and customers. Subsequently, I served as Sales and Marketing Director in the United States before deciding that my place was back home in Spain.
Upon my return, I entered a new phase as an entrepreneur, which allowed me to apply my accumulated experience and develop new business ventures. Once these projects were consolidated, I stepped back from day-to-day management to continue exploring fresh ideas and different challenges.
I am the author of several books on emerging technologies and marketing, many of which were pioneers in Spain. For instance, in 1993, I wrote the first book on the Internet ever published in Spain, and in 2010, I did the same with a book on Twitter (now X). Over the years, I have also had the opportunity to deliver courses, conferences, seminars, and lectures on technology, communication, and business strategy.
I write this blog on technology and entrepreneurship with a twofold purpose: to help people understand how innovation transforms our lives and businesses, and to fulfill my ongoing drive to write and share knowledge.
